How To activate portrait mode on FaceTime to blur the background.

You can activate this feature in two ways. You can either activate it before a FaceTime video call or during a FaceTime video call. We have explained how to activate the feature below for the two scenarios.

Before a FaceTime video call

  • The first thing you need to do is to open up your FaceTime app.
  • After launching the FaceTime app, then open your device control center.
    • For Mac users, simply tap on the control center button.
    • For IOS and IpadOS users, simply Swipe down from the top right corner of your screen.
  • Then, tap or click on video effects.
  • Now, you can select the portrait mode to apply to your FaceTime. 

During a FaceTime video call

  • Open up the control center.
    • For Mac users, simply tap on the control center button.
    • For IOS and IpadOS users, simply Swipe down from the top right corner of your screen.
  • Click on video effects.
  • You can then select portrait mode below your FaceTime.
