Facebook Launches Avatars (a Bitmoji competitor) in the US

Facebook Avatars

Not too long ago, Facebook wowed her users with the care reaction for posts which we all know of and have been using since then. The new Facebook Avatars is a feature that allows you to customize a virtual cartoon lookalike of yourself to use as stickers in comments and chats in Messenger.
It was launched on the 13th of May, 2020 in the U.S. Basically, the Facebook Avatar is just like a version of Snapchat’s Bitmoji. They were first introduced last year and have been since made available in countries including New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and Europe.

Facebook has also expanded its range of customizations for Avatars including a variety of complexions, outfits, new hairstyles, and more.

Avatars may kind of seem a little silly, but they allow for a form of self-expression which extends beyond what texts and emojis alone are capable of doing. It allows users to express themselves in a better way by using cartooned images that look just like them. Just the way we use emojis and stickers to communicate, avatars can also be used to communicate.

On social media platforms, using an avatar can be a helpful way to indicate the tone of your comment, so that you’re not misinterpreted. In addition to that, many people just tend like the option of creating a digital character that actually looks like them ( their candy-colored hair, glasses, piercings, goatees, sense of style or any other customizable feature doesn’t come across when using just an emoji alone).

As we said earlier, the Avatars can be used with Facebook comments and Messenger chats. They can also be used on your Facebook Gaming profile. But very soon, Facebook says users will be able to use the Avatars in text posts with backgrounds.

Though the company hasn’t shared any metrics on the feature’s adoption, they did say Avatars have become very popular with the gaming community.

One very amazing thing about the Facebook Avatar is that it isn’t restricted to Facebook only but to other Social media platforms as well. This means that you can also send your personalized Avatar to other Social media platforms. Amazing! Isn’t it.

This Facebook Avatar feature works irrespective of the device you’re using, be it Android, iPhone, or iPad.

Well, you might be asking if the Facebook Avatar feature is free or comes with a price. The good news is that it is absolutely FREE of charge to its users.

The feature is accessible and free to Facebook users only, but once you’ve created your Avatar, it can be used on other social media platforms.

The Facebook Avatars feature has been rolling out to the U.S. since the 13th of May, 2020. As far as we can tell, it is not yet available in Nigeria.

Nevertheless, be up to date with our successive set of posts as we’ll be discussing how to create and manage Facebook Avatars.
